Participate in an Ayahuasca ceremony. How it works and what you need to know.

You have decided to participate or are going to participate in an Ayahuasca ceremony.

But what can you expect before, during, and after a ceremony?

We explain this in the following article. If anything is unclear, if you have questions, or if you want to register, please contact us via our website.

What to expect before the Ayahuasca ceremony

How nice that you want to participate or are interested in an Ayahuasca ceremony with Mindtravellers.

After you have registered with Mindtravellers, we will send you a questionnaire by email.

The questions are important for your and our safety.

That’s why we ask you to fill them out as completely and honestly as possible. These questions are about your physical and mental health. They also include questions that are important in your life and your motivation to participate.

If any questions arise, we will contact you to rule out any risks.

Preparation – Intention

Just as important as embarking on an inner journey with us, it is important to come with a clear intention.

This way you can get the most out of your journey. What do you hope to achieve with your journey, what do you want to get out of it?

Think about this before the journey begins and write down a few.

During the group ceremony, you can share this intention in advance if you wish, but of course, you decide whether you want to.

Preparation – Diet

To get the most out of your journey, it is important to energetically prepare yourself.

That means it is best to avoid dairy products and red meat before the ceremony.

Salt and sugar as little as possible. This way you can start your journey as ‘clean’ as possible. It also helps to consciously prepare yourself.

48 hours before and 48 hours after the journey, it is better not to consume food containing tyramine, as this can increase your blood pressure during the ceremony.

Tyramine is found in:

– Alcohol (including non-alcoholic beer)
– Various types of cheese
– Processed meats, fish, and game products
– Soy and tempeh

Eat as lightly as possible the day before your journey and use little or no fat.

This ensures that your blood pressure remains as low as possible. It also reduces the risk of nausea and headaches. It is better not to eat anything in the last hours before the journey.

Medication

Do not use medication in the last three days before the ceremony. The contraceptive pill is an exception to this. Take your contraceptive pills well before the journey due to vomiting.

If you use daily prescribed medication, please contact us.

Sex

We also recommend refraining from having sex a few days before the ceremony.

This way your body retains all its energy.

Preparation – Bringing to the ceremony

In any case, bring clothing that is comfortable for you. Since we do not wear shoes in the ceremony room, it is nice to bring slippers. Also bring everything you need to sleep with us. For the walk after the ceremony, hiking shoes and a jacket are fine.

The Ceremony

Finally, the time has come for you to participate in our Ayahuasca ceremony.

We would like to welcome you around noon in our old, spacious building that we bought in 2006. It has recently been renovated with a large kitchen and a beautiful ceremony room in the center of Culemborg.

Upon arrival, we will first show you all our rooms.

If you have booked a group ceremony, we will first do an introduction round so that everyone can get to know each other a bit and feel comfortable.

It is close to the river, a beautiful place to integrate the Ayahuasca journey.

You will feel right at home with us.

Start of the ceremony

We start with an hour-long information session, in which we explain everything calmly.

What to expect and experience during the Ayahuasca ceremony.

Before the journey begins, the intentions are shared. If you prefer to keep these to yourself, that is fine too.

We start the Ayahuasca ceremony with a prayer/meditation and then the real journey begins. You drink the ayahuasca “tea”.

Then you lie down on your mattress and close your eyes. We have beautiful music that fits perfectly with this journey. Of course, we as guides are always nearby to guide you. The journey itself lasts about 6 to 8 hours.

Professional guidance during your journey

The experienced facilitators of Mindtravellers are experienced travelers and are ready to lovingly guide you with their knowledge and experience during the journey. They ensure peace and calm during the ceremony so that everyone feels safe.

With their own Ayahuasca experience and often therapeutic background, they can understand what is happening and guide you where necessary.

After the inner journey

After the journey of about 6 to 8 hours, there is a vegetarian meal with a healthy soup waiting for you and there is plenty of time to share experiences with each other.

Professional guidance after your journey

Even after the trip, it is nice to discuss what you have seen and learned during the journey, with the new insights, ideas, and feelings, and how you can apply this in daily life.

Feedback from experienced guides can help with this.

It is Mindtravellers’ mission to give more people the opportunity to get to know the healing power of Ayahuasca.

The day after the Ayahuasca ceremony

To best apply all new ideas and thoughts to your daily life, the next day is dedicated to integration. We reflect calmly together while sharing what we have seen and learned.

By sharing these experiences with others and also receiving the experiences of others, a fuller picture of the meaning of everything and how everything can be interpreted emerges. That’s why it’s important to remain open to this, even after this weekend.

What else is “coming in” and what can I learn from it?

After breakfast, we start sharing. With a beautiful token, everyone takes turns speaking and can talk about their feelings and share what they want in their own way.

Then we either create a painting or take a walk along the river.

These are often beautiful moments of reflection and sharing with each other.

Mindtravellers Aftercare

Usually, people feel calm and light after a Mindtravellers journey. They are happy with what they have experienced and the insights they have gained. They feel ready to integrate their experiences into their lives, whether by reflecting on them personally or discussing them with the people around them.

It may also be that there are painful themes you want to discuss with us again. This is of course possible, and we are ready to help you. For processing and integrating your experiences, you are in the right place with us.

You can contact one of the guides from your journey. We can put you in touch with him or her. Mindtravellers collaborates with an experienced Ayahuasca psychologist who can provide you with comprehensive information. This can be helpful if you feel a little confused or anxious about what you have experienced. Or if you want to make changes in your life based on new insights but don’t know how. If you are interested in this form of aftercare, please send us an email. The first consultation is always free.
