Frequently asked questions

After your registration, you will receive a questionnaire from us via email. For your and our safety, we ask that you fill it out as completely and honestly as possible. These questions are about your physical and mental health. There are also questions about you that are important in your life and your motivation as to why you would like to participate as a participant. Because some medications cannot go together with Psilohuasca (this consists of an MAO inhibiting plant and Magic Truffles and can slightly increase heart rate and blood pressure). Our team can inform you on this but we always recommend consulting with your doctor or pharmacy to see if it is safe for you to participate, with your medication. This also applies to certain diseases or conditions. We want to do everything possible to eliminate health risks.

Safety comes first at MindTravellers. In some cases, we may strongly advise against taking a Psilohuasca trip. There are drugs that contain an MAO inhibitor, just like Psilohuasca. These combinations can be contraindicated. Medications that do not go well with Psilohuasca include anti-depressants, blood pressure reducers and beta-blockers. Certain physical and mental conditions may also be contraindicated. It is then unwise and sometimes even dangerous to participate. See also:

We ask that you have completely stopped taking anti-depressants at least several weeks in advance. When doing so, keep in mind a sensible phase-out schedule, don’t stop all at once, and always do so in consultation with your doctor.

We check everything for this with the health declaration form you will be sent. Take this very seriously and when in doubt, always consult with us, your doctor or pharmacy.

To get the most out of your trip, we recommend, if at all possible, that you prepare yourself for two weeks mentally, physically but also energetically. The right mindset (intention, physical state of mind) and setting (circumstance in which Plant Medicine is consumed, guidance, ritual, music etc.) largely determine the outcome of your experience. Preparing physically and energetically means that it is best to avoid eating dairy products and red meat prior to the ceremony. Coffee, salt and sugar as little as possible. This way you can start your journey as “pure” as possible.

These preparations also help with your whole process; after all, you are consciously cleansing yourself. 48 hours before and 48 hours after the trip, it is better not to consume any food containing Tyramine, as this can increase your blood pressure during the ceremony. Tyramine is found in, among other things: Alcohol (including non-alcoholic beer) Various types of cheese, processed meat and fish and game products. The day before your trip, eat as lightly as possible and consume little or no fat. By doing so, you ensure that your blood pressure stays as low as possible. It also reduces the risk of nausea and headaches.

In the last hours before the trip, it is better not to eat anything. In the two weeks prior to the ceremony, do not use drugs, alcohol, medications (if possible, consult with us or your doctor), nasal spray and supplements. The birth control pill is an exception to this. Take these well in advance of travel due to possible vomiting. Tip: download the Trip app (Psychedelic guidance- from Field Trip Health), it contains many wonderful meditations, news and other tools to prepare for your tri

Just as important to have a good reason to take a trip with us, it is important to think about setting an intention. That is preparing a kind of compass, for your journey. This way you can get the most out of your trip. What do you hope to accomplish with your journey, what would you like to get out of it? A psychedelic experience is not just anything, conscious preparation provides guidance; making – or thinking about – an intention is part of it.

Think about this carefully over the next few days, and write it down if necessary. In the group session beforehand you can share this intention if you wish, but of course you decide for yourself if you want to.

And then the day of the trip arrived. Upon entering, we first show you all our spaces.

If you have booked a group trip we first do a round of introductions so everyone gets to know each other a little.

Then we start with an information session where we explain how the ceremony goes, what you can possibly expect and how we work together with each other.

Before the journey begins, intentions are shared. If you prefer to keep these to yourself, that’s fine too. Then you are handed the tea and then you lie down on your mattress and close your eyes. We have wonderful music to match these psychedelic journeys. This allows you to get in touch with your deep emotions. Of course, as tutors, we are always around to help you when the going gets tough. The journey itself takes about 4 to 6 hours. Afterwards, there will be a vegetarian meal with a healthy soup and ample time to share experiences alone or with each other.

Magic Truffles work between 4-6 hours, sometimes longer. Psilohuasca can take longer, Including receiving and “landing” between 7-8 hours.

Yes you can. Although you are in your own world during your journey, you can still see and somewhat understand the normal world. If you want to go to the bathroom you can just get up and walk.

You will always be accompanied by a MindTravellers guide to make sure you don’t lose your balance. We make sure you get to the bathroom safely and back on your mattress.

In any case, bring clothes that make you feel comfortable. Since we do not wear shoes in the ceremony room, it is nice to bring slippers or slippers. Also bring everything you need to spend the night with us.

For the hike, walking shoes and a jacket are fine. You can bring swimming gear for the river dive.

Our space

We welcome you to our old spacious building that we bought in 2006. It has recently been updated with a large kitchen beautiful ceremony space centrally located in the Netherlands; namely in Culemborg.

It is close to the river, a nice place to integrate the inner journey with each other.

You will feel right at home with us, the atmosphere is homely and there are plenty of places to find your peace if you prefer not to be in company. We stand for peace and cleanliness; so healthy and fresh food and fresh bedding!

The experienced guides are experienced travelers and are there to lovingly assist you throughout the trip with their knowledge and experience. They provide peace and calm during the ceremony so that everyone feels safe.

With their own psychedelic travel experiences and often therapeutic background, they can understand well what is happening and therefore support you as best they can.

Even after the trip, it is nice to work with the new insights, ideas and feelings. By going to see how you can apply what you have seen and learned in the journey, in your daily life.

Sometimes feedback from experienced supervisors can be helpful in this regard.

We think integration is an important, if not the most important part of your entire experience. A psychedelic trip is actually part of the healing experience you can have, with such an often deep experience. It is important to take time and space, to work with your insights. How you want to start applying them in your daily life.

To best apply all the new ideas and thoughts into your daily life, time is scheduled for this. We then reflect with each other during a sharing, what we have felt, seen and learned. You may participate in this as actively as you wish.

Sharing these experiences with others, as well as receiving the experiences of others, creates a more complete picture of the meaning of everything. We believe it is important to remain open to this, even after this weekend.
With a token, everyone takes turns “speaking” and can tell about their feelings and share what they want in their own way.

Then you can paint or take a mindful walk along the river.

These too are often beautiful moments of reflection and sharing with each other. For your own integration please refer to the Trip app, there are great articles and meditations in there to further shape your insights gained.

There are stories of people “stuck in their trip. This usually refers to people being upset for a while after going through a psychedelic experience. We believe that a fearful, difficult or challenging psychedelic experience, can actually be very meaningful. There may be lingering bad feelings, in which case it is wise to continue your integration process with an integration coach or other professional.

During your journey, you will be unconditionally supported by our team to work through anything. We see from you, when you are struggling and then stand by you. It can be very powerful, learning to give yourself a place to a challenge such as a painful memory or an emotion you would rather not feel. How best to deal with difficult emotions, thoughts and feelings is part of the preparation. Which you can do yourself but will also be told during the introduction. During the screening process, you can also ask questions about this.

In short, you can say, that plant medicine helps you in a process, to feel through and heal unprocessed feelings. So you’re going to feel better and that doesn’t mean, you’re going to feel better right away. This is normal; it often happens when you are in therapy.

Are all my problems solved after the psychedelic trip?

No, definitely not. You get a lot of new insights, you can look through a new door but you have to take the steps yourself that will take you forward. So it can be a catalyst for a change process, but change is a choice you have to make for yourself.

That is after your inner journey, in your ordinary daily life.

If you want to drive after the session, we must first be able to determine that you are completely balanced and that it is safe. So we ask you to be guided by our advice. You may be more tired than you realize. Public transportation is within walking distance and our preference is that you be picked up if possible.

You can, but we recommend taking the space to reflect and integrate what you have experienced. In the days after a session, you are still very “open” and information comes in very much. You have been under a mental shower; take time to land before you are taken away into the grind of everyday life.

Besides medical contraindications, mainly because you have to have a certain balance in yourself, to cope with the “other world” you enter, under the influence of a mind-altering drug. You need to be able to regulate yourself somewhat, if old pain or repressed emotions surface during a journey. We help with this, of course, but ultimately most of the wisdom comes from your Self. A solid mental balance is a good starting point for going through a psychedelic experience and also being able to make sense of it so that it is useful in your daily life.

Yes you certainly can. It can be very nice, to share your experience with someone close to you. Or with a group of people. Sharing such a special experience is good for your process, if you have never experienced a psychedelic journey yourself it remains quite abstract for the listener. Many journeys deal with various forms of love and loving. You feel a different contact, on a deeper level. Being able to share this with a partner or loved one is wonderful.

At MindTravellers, we represent traditional knowledge with modern science. We don’t have Shamans but skilled facilitators who work with music, who are energetically sensitive and, above all, guide your journeys with passion and compassion. There is certainly room for the mystical and spiritual experiences that people often go through-we leave it, however, to the process that unfolds how the healing and power of the plant medicine unfolds, without our influence.

We understand that. Finding it exciting is fine and common. However, if you find it scary, that’s something we’d like to talk to you about. We are here for you, to answer all your questions to the best of our ability. It may be, that a truffle trip suits you better. Surrendering control can be an inner struggle; we will help you with this as best we can.

Upon arrival, we first have a cup of tea and introduce ourselves to each other. Then we start with a ceremony information session, which lasts about an hour. In it we explain how we cooperate with the plant medicine and with each other, how we ensure safety for each other. After this, everyone can ask their own questions so that everyone can begin their journey at their leisure. Then everyone can go choose their mattress and we open the day-ceremony.

The psilohuasca trip can sometimes cause some nausea, which is much less common compared to Ayahuasca. Sometimes there is physical discomfort in the beginning, which we see as sometimes a literal form of “surrender.

Then often begins a visual phase in which you can see shapes and things on multiple dimensions; it may seem as if you yourself are a shape or are part of something you have not seen before. Try acting like a curious scientist, discovering something for the first time.

This is not necessarily a very bad thing. You may be slightly more likely to have nausea or headaches. We always advise you to come as “clean” and rested as possible.

Private ceremonies begin at 9 a.m. and are usually finished around 6 p.m. The day group ceremonies start at 10 a.m. until the same day about 8 p.m.

After the meal and after-dinner chat in the evening, it is nice to stay overnight and experience the sharing the next day, the first part of integration. Sleeping after the trip is an important part of processing.

We provide all the facilities needed to be comfortable, we also have showers. Our focus is on ensuring a safe and supportive environment so that you can take the time you need to regain balance after the ceremony.

This can be beneficial because you have the opportunity to integrate the insights and experiences of the ceremony into your daily life while the memories are still fresh. You can rest, reflect and take time to be aware of the changes that have occurred within yourself.
